Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Folio ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Folio is a personal journal and daily reflection app that allows you to write entries, track habits, record moods, earn milestones, and maintain a private diary. The App offers optional cloud backup (Google Drive and iCloud), home screen widgets, PDF export, and a paid tier (Folio Plus) with additional features.

3. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes on devices you own or control, subject to these Terms.

4. Your Content

You retain ownership of all journal entries, habit data, and content you create in the App. We do not access, read, or use your journal content. When you enable cloud backup, your data is stored in your own Google Drive or iCloud account — we do not have access to it.

5. Accounts and Authentication

If you choose to enable Google Drive backup, you will sign in with your Google account. This authentication is handled by Google's OAuth system. We only access your Google Drive for the purpose of storing and retrieving your backup data. You can revoke access at any time through your Google Account settings.

If you choose to enable iCloud backup (iOS), your data is stored in your personal iCloud account. No separate sign-in is required — your device's Apple ID is used automatically.

6. Free and Paid Features

Folio offers a free tier with core journaling, habit tracking, mood recording, and cloud backup features. Folio Plus is an optional paid upgrade that unlocks additional features such as extended themes, palettes, fonts, widgets, and other premium capabilities.

The specific features included in each tier may change over time. We will not remove features you are actively using from the free tier without reasonable notice.

If your Folio Plus subscription expires or is cancelled, your data remains intact and accessible. You retain read access to all your content. Paid-only features (such as certain themes or export options) become unavailable until you resubscribe, but no data is deleted.

7. Subscriptions and In-App Purchases

Folio Plus is available as:

• Monthly subscription — auto-renewable on a monthly basis
• Lifetime purchase — a one-time, non-recurring payment for permanent access

Apple App Store (iOS):

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
• The subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price of the chosen subscription.
• You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal in your device's Account Settings (Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions).
• Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

Google Play Store (Android):

• Payment is charged to your Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
• The subscription automatically renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• You can manage your subscription or cancel at any time in Google Play (Play Store → Menu → Subscriptions).

Pricing: Current subscription and lifetime prices are displayed in the App before purchase, in your local currency as determined by the platform store. Prices may change; existing subscribers will be notified in advance per platform policies.

Refunds: Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google in accordance with their respective refund policies. PurposeLab does not process refunds directly. To request a refund, contact Apple Support or Google Play Support.

8. Founding Circle

The Founding Circle is a free, limited membership offered to the first 1,111 users who claim it. Membership includes a numbered position and access to certain features. Your Founding Circle membership is preserved through backup and restore. PurposeLab reserves the right to close the Founding Circle once the limit is reached.

9. Data and Privacy

Journal data is stored locally on your device by default. If you enable backup, a copy is stored in your personal Google Drive or iCloud account. Anonymous usage analytics and crash reports are collected via Firebase. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

10. Account Deletion

You can delete all your local data from within the App at any time (Settings → Delete All Data). To remove Google Drive backups, revoke Folio's access in your Google Account and delete the backup folder from your Drive. To remove iCloud backups, manage your iCloud storage in iOS Settings. 11. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the App
• Use the App to store illegal content
• Attempt to circumvent security features including local authentication or purchase verification
• Share, transfer, or sell Founding Circle memberships or Folio Plus entitlements

12. Intellectual Property

All content in the App — including code, design, icons, illustrations, and the Folio name — is owned by PurposeLab Studio and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Your journal content remains yours.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that backup services, in-app purchases, or subscription services will be continuously available or that data will never be lost. We recommend maintaining your own backup practices.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, PurposeLab Studio shall not be liable for any data loss, or any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to issues related to subscription billing, backup failures, or service interruptions.

15. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without notice, for conduct that violates these Terms. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of any subscription fees already paid for the current billing period.

16. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. For material changes affecting paid subscriptions, we will provide notice via the App or email (if available) at least 30 days in advance.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
